SL/Stuck in a Mall/Survival Tips

Today there were lots of "teleporting issues" for me. Here is where I got stuck:

For two hours I was unable to teleport out of this mall (where I'd gone looking for formal wear accessories). [Walking was out of the question, too.] For two hours, I had to pace around and look at every single display at least five times, constantly hitting the 'Teleport' button to no avail.
This display caused me the most anxiety:

My "survival tip" would be to "Always stay in a crowded area if you're not sure there's not going to be any server issues." This way you will have actual people to talk to and not just shoes and wigs and men's ties, like me. If you do get stuck in a place for up to 1-5 hours solo, try to make it in a mall--if possible. But even in a mall, I must admit, I came very very close to logging out. At one point I actually began looking at sales involving the "other gender," which is to say, I forced my mind into a whole new discipline. This also helped me to survive.

"At one point, I saw a poseball and began to drool."

Milo was slumped over in his car seat.

I'm afraid he was more than (Away)... He was (Away, Busy).

---
Later, we found out that Milo had been going through a script error that wouldn't go away. Even a trip to Help Island proved fruitless.

Patric: Milo I am posting your question on your blog.
Patric: My blog.
Patric: Tell me your problem in one sentence or less.
Milo: look
Milo: hey i have this
[Hands me a notecard and says something about "flying fish"]
Patric: i am not interested in your flying fish
Patric: right now i'm more interested in your problem
Milo: that is a problem dude
Milo: did you get notepad read it
Patric: oh sorry didn't realize flying fish was your problem.
Patric: I'll just post that you have a flying fish problem and someone will know what that means
Milo: no dude you need to post this
Milo: Can't move object 'Flying Fish8!' to { 185.762, 115.994, 1459.46 } in region Watarrka Park because you are banned from the parcel.
Milo: or this
Milo: Hi, i have a flying fish object that i lost and now every minute i hear a message saying that it's stuck somewhere in a banned area.

1st Life/Stuck on roof

We were putting up a banner when our ladder toppled over. Good thing we were already on roof!
We looked at each other like: Now what?
Both of us had our cell phones. We could call someone...
"Good morning. Good Sunday morning. Could you do us a BIG favor and rescue us by picking up our ladder off the ground...?"
It was only two stories up, but still.
We saw a lady walking her dog. As she got closer, I asked Bill "Should we?"
Yes.
"Ma'am, good morning! How are you? Beautiful day, isn't it? Listen, we're in a jam. Our ladder fell over. Yes, that one. Would you mind...?"
She mercifully upended our ladder while her poodle watched.
"Thank you! Thank you!" we both said.
I wadded up nine dollars and tossed it down to her. She smiled and left.
Bill and I looked at each other and thanked the heavens for strolling dogs.

Traveling without consent

Like it or not, we are stuck on a rock going 67,000 miles per hour. Time and space move past us at a brilliant pace. We are forever marching forward; we are gliding through the universe. We are made up of components of the universe. Our neighboring planets, the Sun, and us are composed of a 'solar system,' and this 'solar system' spins around our galaxy at approximately 490,000 miles per hour. We share this galaxy with a multitude of other solar systems, all traveling the same astronomical speeds. Meanwhile, we earthlings continue to squabble over mundane things like oil and water. It puts our evolution into perspective...
---
We are forever marching through time and space. Over time our planet has even become its own interstellar vehicle. Who needs a man-made contraption to guide us through space when our own planet has done the job nicely? Over eons, Earth has picked up spores and spacedust and other panspermia as it travels through the endlessness of space. Our planet is fertile ground for an incomprehensible number of species. (No wonder we are allegedly checked out so regularly.)
We are space travelers, like it or not.

1st Life/2nd Life
Turkey Talk

I logged into Battlefield 1942 for the first time today in a long time. It was a peaceful rendezvous.
The world of Second Life has been occupying my time (obviously). The re-entry into BF42 was a good experience; I loved seeing all the souls who inhabit that world. Nateos is a great server offered up by the mysterious--and generous--Frenchman "Peck." It is a place of a billion laughs.
In the SL world (like the BF42 world) you meet people from around the world. Yesterday, I met with Meri again, the designer of the community tavern I was raving about a few posts ago. She told me she is from Turkey. The woman who produced the most beautiful tavern ever is from a country I know almost nothing about! Talk about irony! Her little flourishes still amaze me...
We talked and laughed and then I did something that may have annoyed her: at the moment she announced she was from Turkey I was chewing on some turkey from the previous night's Christmas dinner. I told her this, and I don't think she thought it was funny. (Sometimes people name things strangely. For instance, the turkey. Why was this named after a country?? For the answer, I turn to Wikipedia.
In the part under "Naming": "When Europeans first encountered these species in the Americas, they incorrectly identified them with the African Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris), also known as the turkey-cock from its importation to Central Europe through Turkey, and the name of that country stuck as also the name of the American bird." So Turkey played a roundabout role in the mistaken identity of a bird that Americans feast upon during a binary holiday beginning on Thanksgiving and ending on Christmas.

First, the American "Indians" were called an incorrect name, then the food commemorating peace with the "Indians" is mistakenly called "Turkey"?! Ay-yay-yay. Thanksgiving needs a new chapter under "Irony.")

I encourage anyone in SL to check out this marvelous tavern. It is located in Watarrka Park.

Second Life

Trying to decorate my house with Erlon Obviate (my Brazilian buddy).

We discovered a sort of "Galaxy in a Box"--a cool plasma TV-like screen that streams images of the Universe. Watching it live is really something.

Considering who my (nearest) neighbor is, having this object only makes sense.

Erlon thought the screen would look much better downstairs.

Guess who disagreed?
My "neighbor" decided it wasn't a good idea.

I ended up getting stuck in the middle of the road.

The screen apparently has to go back on the roof!
