Who's in bed?

I told a friend in France I was going to bed, since it was nearly 1:30am in Florida. In France it was nearly 6:30am. He told me he'd already been to bed and that he'd gotten up two hours earlier (at 4:30am).
I was chuckling at the fact that I was going to beat France to bed, yet France had already been to bed.
France was an early riser (and an early-to-bed'r).
I love the internet.
I love this world.

SL/Same Wave length

Dragon the British DJ said to pay attention to the colours in the club.

As a Floridian I could clearly see them so I responded:
"i see colors"

then

"i see colours"

SL/Map if you need one

At Hooters -N- Shooters.

After everything had winded down a bunch of us realized we were Floridians. In fact, we had aligned ourselves on the dance floor geographically without realizing it. I had positioned myself on the West side (Tampa Bay), Bongo was in the middle (Orlando), and Babyhoney on the east coast (Daytona Beach). Capping it off, Jason, who had been a conversation-mate of ours, was standing directly north of us in Pensacola.
It all matched up perfectly, like a map.
Hurricane season is upon us. Dear God in heaven, let this not be a sign.

SL/Erlon Obviate resurfaces as a non-addict

in several different time zones

One of the first people I ever met in Second Life (way back in December, eons ago), Erlon Obviate, IM'd me while I was offline to say hello...that he keeps meaning to talk to me, but I'm never in his time, his time being Brazilian time. This struck me as odd because I've always assumed South America's time zones were the same as North America's. So I did a lookup and discovered that Brazil is one hour ahead of us in Florida. Very cool.
But Erlon messaged me at 15:34 SL time, which is the same thing as 3:34pm Pacific time--or 7:34pm Brazilian time (6:34pm my time)--which really isn't that late.
Erlon is keeping regular hours, I see. That will change once he becomes addicted. (If he becomes addicted.) My mission is to encourage Erlon Obviate to become addicted.

Long live Second Life!

Blogger Auto-Save feature (New)

Very nice feature. And oh-so unobtrusive.
I was going to "save my draft," like I always do, and discovered the "save" button already pressed for me! As you can see in the screenshot, Blogger is now saving the work for you (every thirty seconds) without you noticing.

Very cool for bloggers like me who live in Florida and have no battery backup system and occasionally have power blips due to lightning.

Update: 05/21/07
Also, another small improvement that shouldn't go unnoticed. Before, if you went to an existing post in 'edit' mode and changed your mind and did not edit anything, Blogger would still nag you with a popup: "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? You have unsaved changes." Now, Blogger can tell--somehow--that you didn't mess with your post--and leave you alone.

1st Life/Health

Two things in the past month have convinced me of the benefits of "alternative health."

1. When I fell off a 12' ladder and two days later was feeling no effects thanks to the healing power of massage.
2. Last week when I was sitting in a 130-degree truck (with chills) suffering the effects of the flu, then I got an injection of Chinese herbs from a Naturopath and within 6 hours I was 90% better. (If I'd gotten the shot at the onset of the flu I'm convinced it would have stopped it cold.)

Conventional medicine would have helped only slightly--if not at all--in these situations so I'm glad my curiosity won out. If you ever are in Florida and you want to see a lady doctor who knows what she's doing, check her out.

SL/Disconnect-ed

Yetrates had us teleport to a new place, but I couldn't rez Milo--just his joint and sunglasses.

I suggested he wrap himself up with bandages.

When he finally did rez, I didn't know what was worse: him invisible or him naked!

Vibes...

Someone asked me what the vibes were like here in Florida. I told him the vibes were incredible (and for me, essential).
Incredible vibes! Balmy and sunny and rainy and sandy. Hurricanes and Dolphins. It has both a strong Latin influence mixed with a decidedly Cracker influence. Blacks, whites, Hispanics, all living together. Jews and trailer trash. Baptists and Swamps and Space Shuttles. Three miles from where I live is the intersection of Ft. Harrison Avenue and Cleveland Street and that's where about a million Scientologists hang out.
Daytona 500 and Disney World. The Everglades and Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ray Charles and Jimmy Buffet and Princess Cruise Lines and sharks and a strong Canadian presence.
We also evacuate. In the meantime, we like our college football and sunsets (and sunrises) and spring breaks and foamy surf and giant cockroaches (NOT). We are home to lightning and pitbulls and pastel colors...

We like the vibes here, believe it or not, because there are about one-billion of them.
